The real question is Scotty, why does a modern or future cars have to become more complex, anyway?
When a car becomes more complex and complicated than our human body, that should tell you something.
We often want the most simplest and convenient way, yet, we keep putting more and more complex things onto our own devices. Why?

Cool. The only thing I don’t trust is the value of the resistor. A cap will discharge at a rate dependent on it’s value and the value of the resistor. 1 ohm will still discharge caps pretty fast. The bigger the resistor, the slower a cap will charge or discharge. The formula is T=RC for the time to discharge to ~38%. A bigger R results in a bigger T (time) which should reduce stress on the delicate electronics on your $50k vehicle.

Computers do not belong in a car especially under the hood we’re against the 3 to 400° f that’s why a lot of cars and a lot of people have problems because the computer is not meant to be put under a hood of a car that goes between 3 to 400 Fahrenheit
Well is it a 10-watt 1 ohm resistor or a 1 ohm 10 watt resistor?
Around the 4 minute mark, when taking off the batter terminals, you should take the negative off first. The neg is grounded through the frame, and if you attack the positive first and are vigorously twisting with pliers, you might accidentally touch some other metal part electrically connected to the frame and complete the circuit with little internal resistance, resulting in a nice, burning arc. Watches, bracelets and rings are especially dangerous in this case.
